Arthur
Hsieh
Arthur Hsieh first came to MBCLA in April, 1984 when
his father told him, "You've been so blessed in your
life; you need to go to church and thank God." He surrendered
his life to the Lord in the summer of '84, after graduating
from South Pasadena High School, and was baptized that
fall.
He began working with MBCLAcs youth in 1985 while
in his first year in college and hasn't stopped since.
Of the various ministries he's involved in, Total Devotion
is his top priority. As TD's lead Bible teacher, his
desire is to teach the Bible to TD'ers in a deep manner
in hopes of building a God-saturated conscience and
worldview within them.
Arthur is a Certified Financial Planner TM by vocation.
He delights in being married to Sandra, and loves being
a dad to Nathaniel, Randall, Daniel, and Angela.
Arthur can be contacted at 626.799.0857 or via e-mail

Sandra
Hsieh
Sandra Hsieh has been working with the high schoolers
at MBCLA ever since she started coming in 1983. At the
end of her junior year at South Pasadena High School,
the Lord started to open her eyes to her total depravity
and His even more sufficient grace. The scenario and
life stages have changed but the process and revelation
that He started in 1975 has not.
Her current stage in life is comprised of being a
wife and mother. She serves, supervises and desires
to train her 4 children: Nathaniel (12), Randall (10),
Daniel (8), and Angela (5) according to the Word.
Sandra can be contacted at 626.799.0857 or via e-mail
at ahsieh2964@aol.com |

Frank
Teng
Frank started coming to MBCLA as a sophomore in high
school. As a student in Total Devotion, he came to know
Christ during a summer retreat and has been seeking
to make God the first priority in his life ever since.
Because of the growth and blessings he experienced
through TD, Frank decided to serve as a counselor during
his senior year at UCLA. Currently, he works in Irvine
as a financial planner and is married to his college
sweetheart, Kathy.
Frank can be contacted at 562.431.4263 or via e-mail
at fteng12@yahoo.com |

Kathy
Teng
Kathy has been a TD counselor for 9 years. She began
serving during her junior year at UCLA, where she majored
in Psychology. After undergraduate school, she continued
at UCLA in the graduate program to get her teaching
credential and Masters in Education.
The year after she completed her studies, she got
engaged and married to Frank. During all these changes
in her life, she continued to serve in TD because of
her love for the high schoolers.
Kathy has been an elementary school teacher now for
4 years and has been happily married for 2 1/2 years.
Kathy has 20 kids, but they are all from her 3rd grade
class, none of her own.

Anna
Chao
Anna grew up at MBCLA and has served in TD as a counselor
for the past 7 years. Her other ministries include,
singing for the praise team, teaching Sunday school
to 9th graders, singing for Heavenbound, and discipling
2 of the TD girls.
She just couldn't get enough of high school that she
decided to be around high schoolers as long as she could.
She currently works for World Savings as a loan officer
and has been with the company for 4 years. Anna has
a great love for pets and is most recently raising 2
golden retriever dogs name Justice and Sheba.(They're
a handful! But so darn cute!) She also loves being outdoors
in the sun. Especially beaches and anything that has
to do with the water. She's a natural beach bum, hence
the tan. Her dream would be visiting the exotic beaches
in all different countries. She likes to live by the
saying on one of her favorite t- shirts..."tan girls
have more fun". On a side note, Anna is allergic to
products containing SPF. When used, she will break out
in hives.

Grace
Chung
Grace has been helping out with TD for four years and
is looking forward to what 2005/2006 will bring. She
decided to help out with TD because the teaching she
received at TD laid down a strong foundation that God
used to anchor her faith. TD was also a place that she
developed lasting friendships and found true fellowship.
Grace also really enjoys hanging out with the high schoolers
and she wants to be involved in their lives as they
wrestle and grow in their faith. Her ministries in TD
include prayer and inreach.
Currently, Grace is in her second year of pharmacy
school (only two more to go!). If she's not studying,
she's probably spending time with her family (she's
an aunt five times now), spending time with friends,
trying to be crafty, reading a good book, or drinking
a Starbucks vanilla latte or a strawberry slush with
lychee jelly. If she has time, you might see her on
the tennis court or running around a track. But if she
could do anything, she would be playing a game of Bop
It, Speed Scrabble, Nertz, or Settlers of Catan.
Grace can be contacted via e-mail at gtjandra@gmail.com

Joan
Teng
Joan graduated from SPHS in 1999 and went to sunny
San Diego for school. She graduated in 2003 from UCSD
with a B.A. in Human Development and a minor in Psychology.
Joan took a year off working at a really random job
then decided to go and get her teaching credential at
CSUN. She hopes to finish up in a semester or two and
begin her job hunt again.
Although people keep calling Joan a swimmer, she hasn't
really swam in 5 years unless you call wading at the
beach swimming.
A few of Joan's favorite things are God, messages
that make your brain hurt, caramel frappucinos, food,
singing, crafts, Nichole Nordeman and the number 22
Joan can be contacted via e-mail at joanteng22@gmail.com

Jon
Ma
Jon first started going to MBCLA as a freshman in high
school. He remembers the good times of fellowship he
experienced in Total Devotion and is now serving as
a counselor because he wants to be a part of the work
that God is doing in the high schoolers of MBCLA.
He is a graduate of UCLA and is now in law school
at USC, although he's still a Bruin at heart. Jon loves
to eat meat and drink strawberry slush with lychee jelly.
He also plays sports like basketball, tennis, volleyball,
and golf and his favorite board game is Settlers of
Catan.
Jon can be contacted via e-mail at monja13@yahoo.com

Total Devotion is the High School Fellowship at Mandarin
Baptist Church of Los Angeles.
Total Devotion meets on every Friday night from 730 PM to 10 PM
in Room 131 except for the last Friday of each month.
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing
greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have
lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes
from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness
that comes from God and is by faith. I
want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the
fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his
death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Phillipians 3:8-11
