Hey:

Well, the days are counting down to your wedding. I know that above all you want the Lord to be honored, and so do I.

Sandra and I have attended many special weddings. One very special wedding celebration, however, was my friend's, (name withheld). Sure, it was at (a fancy hotel) and all, but you know why it left such a lasting impression on us? It truly sought the Lord's honor from the ceremony right through the banquet. All the festivities were done mindful that the Lord was always present and was the key Person in the whole event.

I contrast that with other weddings that have a beautiful, God-centered ceremony but then a banquet celebration that seems to have left God at the church - almost like celebrating with God at the church and with the devil at the party.

So, I do have a suggestion with respect to the music played and danced to. I'd like to suggest for you to make sure you and the DJ/musicians are on the same page and to put filters on the music played. Anything that delights in activities that Jesus died for ought not to be promoted and celebrated - songs that promote promiscuity, premarital sex, infidelity, beating people up - or worse, killing them, drunkenness, living for today, as if there's no tomorrow, profanity, sexually suggestive lyrics, etc., etc. What a farce that would make of the sacredness of the holy vows you took just hours earlier. I remember being at a banquet and thinking, "Did that singer just say what I thought he said?"

Can people enjoy themselves and celebrate joyfully? Of course! I plan to. But not for things that cost Jesus His life. I don't think you want to turn your banquet into a night club. There are thousands of great, wholesome songs out there. The Lord is still in the midst, and people - old (including your grandparents), young (including your nephews and nieces), Christian (including your disciplees and mentors) and non-Christian (those hardened and those wondering), will be looking to you and at you.

You may have already thought of this but I thought I'd bring it up, just in case. It seems many haven't.

Anyway, just wanted you give you a good running start before you enter into THE most sacred earthly institution God has ordained. We're cheering you on!

With love,

Arthur
