Hey guys,
There's this new movie coming out and I was wondering
whether or not I should go watch. It looks interesting but
it's also against the Catholic Church. So here's the movie
site, please check it out feed me opinions. thanks :D
Hey:
I, personally, wouldn't go see any movie without looking
at the review of it first on Focus on the Family's web site.
(I don't want to get caught off guard with some type of scene
that will leave an impression on my soul that I don't want
left there - there's already too much of that in regular life,
never mind me volitionally going to a place to have it leave
its crud in me).
Then, I'd check it against His Word, the source of what
is true and right. Will it aid me in loving and obeying Him?
Will it actually distract me from Him, and possibly even leave
me further behind in my relationship with Him? How about Jesus?
Will He enjoy watching it with me (after all, He will be with
you)? Does it comply with 1Cor. 13:, Phil. 4:8, 1Cor. 6:12,
and 1Cor. 9 - the whole chapter (please look up each of these)?
(Name withheld), train yourself to only participate in legitimate
pleasures, not illegitimate ones. Legitimate pleasures are
those pleasures that nourish you without diminishing you.
Illegitimate pleasures bring some sort of short-term nourishment,
but end up diminishing you.
Then, talk to the Lord about it.
Ask him, "Lord, I know you're with me all the time. You're
the One I live for. My life is yours, to do what you want
with. Your honor is my life's goal. Do you want us to watch
that movie together? Is that the best use of our time together?
Or, is there something else you want us to do together, something
more profitable, something you'd take more joy in? I definitely
want to consider your feelings and desires in the choices
I make, and I want nothing more than to have a quality, deep,
consistent, exciting relationship with you. So, please help
me to know what would be best for our relationship together.
I know I'm so busy with this and with that, and you often
get ignored, so I want to make these moments of free time
count. What do you think, Lord?"
Then, I'd recommend to go to His word and let Him reply
to you through there. Then, I think you'll know what to do.
You may think, "Man, I didn't ask for a whole sermon!" I'm
just telling you what runs through my mind nearly everyday,
to give myself the best chance at being in a solid relationship
with Him, to put myself in a position to be used by Him, and
to reduce my chances of stumbling everyone who looks to me
for any reason. Welcome to my world (and it's a great one!
Praise God!)
Please let me know what you think and decide to do. I'll
let you in on a pet peeve of mine - it bugs me when I reply
to people's questions and they don't bother to respond. Take
care, and keep your eyes on the Prize!
Blessings,
Arthur
